Double Standard

 So...because she’s a woman, you call her a hoe?

But if it was your friend, you’d call him Joe?

Degrading and demolishing her worth, by calling her a slut,
But on the other hand you smile and gloat with your egotistical mutt?
Just one of the things me refuse fi comprehend,
So mek me take di time, so likkle knowledge me can lend
Cause Wah goes fi di goose, also goes fi di gander
Same actions from both, but why only one get slander?
Piling up bodies, reacting on lust
Then remorseful after, because them never make you bust

Just like di workplace manager weh make she feel incompetent,
Because she nuh bearded, grey and have much physical strength.
Just like Joe, she can do anything that seem impossible,
After all, she’s a woman, and them far more responsible.

But, the double standard is not only on one side,
Because as a man, your true feelings dem you did affi hide.
Depression, frustration, stress from being angry
And was told to suck it up boy! cause everything’s fine and dandy
You never get the chance to express how you feel in this society,
But best believe the day you can’t, them ago blame you, and call it toxic masculinity
Then Calling him wukliss for not having a choice,
While your friend is a worse mother, but where was your voice?
Eradicating these ills, might be a bit hard,
But it still can be done, after all, it’s just double standard.
